The countdown begins, and the stage is set for an electrifying extravaganza that will ignite the hearts and souls of music enthusiasts and cultural aficionados alike. On the 22nd of May, The Republic of Korea and Zimbabwe will commemorate their 30-year diplomatic anniversary at the highly anticipated “Show Me Your K,” K-Pop festival. Entrance is absolutely free!
Running from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, the festival promises two hours of non-stop excitement with K-Pop performances, African music and dance, cultural exhibits, and more.
Falling just before Africa Day on May 25th, the festival celebrates not only Korea-Zimbabwe relations but also pan-African solidarity. Visitors can explore vibrant product exhibits sourced from Korean cuisine, agriculture, books and other goods. The whole family is invited and a children’s corner outfitted with youth-centric activities and games will ensure your little ones have a blast.
On the main stage, award-winning Zimbabwean entertainers like Hope Masike and John Cole will belt out their popular hits alongside traditional Zimbabwean song and dance troupes. Their dynamic performances promise to uniquely blend elements of Korean and African creative talents.
Of course, no Korean culture festival would be complete without authentic cuisine. Attendees will have a chance to sample delicious Korean food products directly from the source. With tastes sure to excite even the most discerning palates, it’s the perfect chance to eat like a K-pop star!
Adding to this momentum, a group of elite Korean B-boys and a demonstration team from the world-renowned Kukkiwon national taekwondo organization will travel to Zimbabwe for special performances in September and October 2024. The “Show Me Your K” event serves as an ideal platform to generate local excitement ahead of their visits.
This momentous event falls just ahead of Zimbabwe’s President HE ED Mnangagwa’s scheduled visit to South Korea in June for the first-ever Korea-Africa Summit. There, he will discuss strengthening inter-government relations on trade, development and more.
As a public festival, organizers emphasize the event is totally free and family-friendly for all to attend. With its central location in Harare, residents from across the city and beyond are warmly invited to take part. Whether you’re a die-hard K-Pop fan or simply curious about Korean culture, come be part of the vibrant celebrations!
