Elon Musk has found a new boss for Twitter!
NBC Universal’s Linda Yaccarino is set to start in about six weeks, after leaving her job at the media company “effective immediately”.
As you may know, Mr Musk bought the social media platform last year for a cool $44 billion and has been feeling the pressure to refocus his attention on his other ventures, like Tesla and SpaceX.
He has also been under fire for changes he’s made to Twitter, which have caused big companies to halt their spending on the platform.
But fear not, Linda Yaccarino is here to save the day!
With her background in advertising, she’s the ideal person to help Twitter monetize better and bring in some much-needed cash.
“She won’t be rolled over,” says Claire Atkinson, chief media correspondent at Business Insider.
At NBCUniversal, Yaccarino oversaw around 2,000 people and was involved in the launch of its streaming service.
She’s been credited with bringing the network’s ad sales operation into the digital future and is sure to bring that same expertise to Twitter.
At an advertising conference last month, Yaccarino reminded Musk of the challenges he faced in winning the industry’s trust.
“The people in this room are your accelerated path to profitability,” she said. “But there’s a decent bit of skeptics in the room.”
So, with Yaccarino on board, it looks like things are looking up for Twitter.
Elon Musk can now focus on his other endeavors, while Yaccarino works her magic and helps Twitter rake in the dough.
Let’s hope she can work her magic and turn things around for the social media giant!
