In an exciting collaboration set to electrify Zimbabwe, renowned international choreographer John Cole is partnering with Zambia’s top female dance choreographer, Carlita Francisco, to bring the highly anticipated Move Loud Dance Class to Harare.
Scheduled to take place on December 7th at the state-of-the-art National Ballet in Belgravia Harare, this one-day immersive experience promises to inspire and empower dance enthusiasts of all skill levels. The duo connected during one of Carlita Francisco’s visit to Zimbabwe, facilitated by local dance choreographer/artist Katherine King, and have now joined forces to share their collective expertise and passion with the local dance scene.
“This partnership is a testament to the power of dance to transcend borders and bring people together,” said Cole. “Our goal is to create a dynamic platform where dancers and non dancers can learn, grow, and freely express themselves through movement.”
The Move Loud Dance Class will feature world-class dance instructor Carlita Francisco who will teach a diverse range of dance styles, from Amapiano and hip-hop to Afrobeats. Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn directly from the dance icons, while also showcasing their own talents and sharing their love of dance with the community.
In a move that underscores the event’s inclusive spirit, the Move Loud Dance Class is proudly associated with the Zimbabwe Choreographers and Dancers Association. This partnership ensures that the experience will be genuine, impactful, and accessible to dancers of all backgrounds and skill levels.
“We are thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking initiative,” said Carlita. “By bringing together top talent from across the region and providing a nurturing environment for dancers to explore and express themselves, we hope to inspire a new generation of movers and shakers in Zimbabwe.”
The dance class will culminate in a spectacular “KeDecember Dance Party” on the 7th December, featuring a star-studded lineup of Zimbabwean musicians, including Adrian Tate, Kim Makumbe, and the rising stars Tamika and Tanya Makamache. This open dance party will allow participants to freely express themselves to the audience, creating a celebratory atmosphere that embodies the essence of the Move Loud Dance Class.
“This is a pivotal moment for the Zimbabwean dance community,” said Cole. “By leveraging our international expertise and collaborating with local artists and organizations, we aim to ignite a dance revolution that transcends borders and inspires positive change.”
