Ditshego Media’s latest advertisement titled “Do they know who you are ” is an instant hit and a showcase of their creative genius.
The ad begins with a man being pulled over by two female traffic officers for a faulty tail light.
When questioned, the man keeps asking the officers ‘Don’t you know who I am?’ expecting that his perceived status will excuse him from the infraction.
However, the ladies remain professional, maintaining that they ‘do not know who he is’ and proceed to ticket him for the violation.
As the viewer, we anticipate some kind of comedic (or spicy) relief based on the flirtatious undertones, but Ditshego surprises us with a dramatic turn.
The man is led away in handcuffs to the back of a police van before being incarcerated in a prison cell.
Here, the true meaning of the ad’s title is revealed as the man’s new cell mate asks why he has been imprisoned. The man repeats ‘They don’t know who I am’ only to realize too late that his identity meant nothing in this situation—he was judged solely on his actions. The cell mate’s retort, that he ‘will get to know him tonight’ gives one final, haunting twist.
Ditshego’s clever “Do They Know Who You Are” advertisement is very relevant to their business as a Marketing and PR firm specializing in making other businesses or brands known to the world. Brilliant!
