The CIMAS Health Group, known as Cimas, is taking some serious steps to improve healthcare in Zimbabwe.
They’re investing a whopping $8 million this year alone into healthcare infrastructure and technology. And this isn’t just a one-time thing – they invested $5 million last year and plan to keep up this trend for the foreseeable future.
But why is Cimas investing so much in healthcare? Well, according to the CEO, Vulindlela Ndlovu, healthcare services have the potential to contribute even more to the economy.
In fact, Cimas believes that with state-of-the-art healthcare infrastructure, Zimbabwe could become a hub for medical tourism.
And who wouldn’t want to visit Zimbabwe for their medical needs? With great skills in the country, Cimas believes that this idea can become a reality.
To achieve their goal, Cimas is investing in physical infrastructure and technology. They want to make sure that the country has cutting-edge medical infrastructure that can contribute to improved health outcomes.
The CEO is also interested in mental health and wants to increase medical aid coverage through technology.
But Cimas isn’t just about business. They’re also making moves to inspire the next generation.
This year, the group invited 80 children from rural schools to experience the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair. The hope is that this will have a positive impact on their lives and motivate them to pursue careers that they never believed were possible.
“We are inviting the business community to join in this initiative in future,” Ndlovu said.
“This year we have invited 80 students. Forty of the students are from Matabeleland North province, 20 from Ndlovu Primary School and 20 from Jotsholo Secondary School. Forty students are from Mashonaland East province and all of them are from Mukondiwa Primary School.”
It’s clear that Cimas is all about making a lasting impact on Zimbabwe’s healthcare industry. And they’re not just investing in infrastructure – they’re also taking steps to ensure that their clients’ information is secure.
Last year, the group attained ZWS ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification, becoming the first medical services provider to achieve the standard as the company went digital.
This certification means that Cimas has attained a world-class information security management system that ensures the security and confidentiality of clients’ information.
What’s great about Cimas is that they’re not just focused on their own success – they’re also interested in partnering with the government to increase medical aid coverage.
“We know that the government would like to see an improvement in the level of coverage to include everyone and not the current position where less than 10% of the population has medical aid,” Ndlovu said.
“We would like to be part of a solution (working with government and other stakeholders) to increase medical aid coverage. There are some promising leads that this could be reality and one of the enablers for this is technology.”
Technology really is a game-changer in healthcare. With online platforms, mental health coaching is proving to be quite impactful in reaching wider services.
And Cimas is all about improving access, lowering costs, and improving health outcomes. It’s clear that they’re taking their healthcare game to the next level, and they’re not messing around.
Overall, Cimas is making some serious moves in the healthcare industry.
They’re investing in infrastructure and technology, inspiring the next generation, and ensuring their clients’ information is secure.
With such a dedicated approach, it’s no wonder that Cimas has been Zimbabwe’s leading private medical aid society for over 75 years.
And who knows? With Cimas’ investments, Zimbabwe could become the next hub for medical tourism.
