Sportswear giants Adidas launched their new Manchester United kit for the 2023/24 season with a stunning video starring a host of famous United names, both past and present. The advert was filmed at the club’s old training ground The Cliff and debuted on social media to showcase the new strip which was designed in partnership with Adidas.
Hollywood actor Barry Keoghan, a lifelong Manchester United fan, took the lead role in the short film. Among the current playing squad, left-back Luke Shaw was first seen tasked with fetching coffees pitchside. Eagle-eyed fans also spotted talented youngsters Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo recreating their viral celebration from last season’s win over West Ham United.
As well as some of United’s rising stars, legendary figures from the club’s history made appearances. Denis Irwin, who won numerous trophies including four Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford, was spotted. Bryan Robson, the midfield powerhouse and former United captain, also got involved in the ad. Jaap Stam, the no-nonsense Dutch centre-back who was a key member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s 1999 Champions League winning team, came back to The Cliff. Frank Stapleton, who lifted two FA Cups with United in the 1970s and is Barry Keoghan’s second cousin, rounded off the alumni lineup.
The new kit sees Adidas bringing back their classic trefoil logo to mark their 75-year anniversary in 2025. It replaces United’s traditional badge which now appears as a ‘Devil’ emblem on the left chest. The strip keeps the iconic red colour scheme but introduces black trim and detailing on the sleeves and collar.
