South African favourite Nandos is known for their cheeky advertising campaigns, and their latest 30 second Ad certainly delivers on the laughs.
The advert opens with a chaotic family dinner at a couples in-laws house. Children are running amok, breaking precious ornaments and leaving messy fingerprints over valuables.
The Grandpa is seriously annoyed at the kids especially after one kid wipes his oily fingers on grandpa’s beloved vintage records.
As the parents attempt to have a serious conversation with the grandparents, they nervously announce that another child is on the way.
“We’re having another baby!” says the wife awkwardly.
“Why can’t you just pull it out!” erupts the outraged grandfather over the din gesturing to the husband.
Just then, the camera pans to the husband who is struggling mightily to eat their Nandos chicken skewers. They are sawing desperately at the chicken, unable to separate the meat from the stick.
It’s at this point that the grandfather clarifies “The stick!” as the grandmother tries to shush him.
Finally the hapless husband manages to tug the chicken off the skewer in a spray of juices. The advert ends with the words “Remember to pull the stick out” flashing across the screen.
The 30 second spot is trademark Nandos, delivering a humorous situation and a cheeky double entendre that is sure to get tongues wagging.
With their recognizable ads, Nandos has long capitalized on playful cultural references and tactful innuendo to keep their brand top of mind.
This new campaign continues their streak of producing witty and relatable commercials that are enjoyable to watch repeatedly.
Whether throwing shade or simply selling delicious peri-peri chicken, Nandos knows how to capture attention in a memorable way.
Fans reacted enthusiastically online, praising the advert’s comedic timing and family-friendly raunchiness. The spot is set to roll out across TV and digital platforms nationwide.
