Paramount Global has announced a significant rebranding effort for its premium standalone TV channel, Showtime.
Starting from January 8, 2024, Showtime will be transformed into Paramount+. This move represents a consolidation of the separate Paramount+ and Showtime streaming apps into one comprehensive platform.
Subscribers will now enjoy access to a wide range of original content from both Paramount+ and Showtime.
Paramount Global’s decision to merge the two services aims to create a groundbreaking multiplatform brand that seamlessly integrates streaming and linear content.
By combining the best offerings from Paramount+ and Showtime, subscribers will have access to an incredible lineup of shows.
Among the notable series available are the highly anticipated new shows Sexy Beast, Star Trek: Discovery (Seasons 1-4), Halo (Season 1 and the upcoming Season 2), as well as a selection of engaging programs from Showtime, such as A Gentleman in Moscow, The Woman in the Wall, and Yellowjackets.
To generate awareness among viewers, Paramount will launch a comprehensive advertising campaign to promote the rebrand.
This campaign will be broadcasted on Showtime-owned and linear channels, ensuring that existing subscribers are informed about the upcoming changes.
However, it’s worth noting that according to a report by Variety, some current Showtime subscribers may not automatically gain access to the new Paramount+ With Showtime streaming service.
To enjoy the combined content library that includes beloved shows like Star Trek, Dexter, and Super Pumped, these subscribers would need to utilize authenticated streaming apps provided by select large providers with agreements in place with Paramount.
The rebranding initiative follows Paramount’s introduction of Paramount+ With Showtime as a high-tier ad-free subscription plan earlier in the summer. Priced at $12 per month, this plan offers a premium streaming experience.
Additionally, Paramount has partnered with Netflix to offer a bundled subscription plan for Verizon subscribers, providing an alternative to traditional cable packages.
The rebranding of Showtime into Paramount+ represents a significant step forward in Paramount Global’s strategy to deliver a comprehensive and immersive streaming experience to its subscribers. The integration of Paramount+ and Showtime content will undoubtedly provide viewers with a diverse and compelling selection of shows and movies.
