Liquid Death has proven once again why they are masters of the beverage industry. When faced with legal threats from Arnold Palmer’s estate over their “Armless Palmer” tea-lemonade blend, they didn’t hesitate – they went straight for the nuclear option.
The company revealed it will no longer call its half tea, half lemonade blend “Armless Palmer”. This was a play on the classic drink, Arnold Palmer. Now it will be known as the “Dead Billionaire”.
This name change was prompted by threats of a lengthy legal battle from the holders of the “Arnold Palmer” trademark.
In a social media post, Liquid Death said the new name avoids this potential fight.
The post explained that both the trademark holders and one of their partners, a large iced tea corporation, have far more money for legal fees.

Consumers can expect to see the new “Dead Billionaire” cans on Amazon and store shelves this spring. The company jokingly predicted fights in stores as fans scoop up the remaining Armless Palmer cans before they disappear forever. They suggested the old cans may become valuable collectors items worth billions.
The Arnold Palmer drink originated in the 1960s when pro golfer Arnold Palmer was thought to be one of the first enjoying unsweetened tea and lemonade on the golf course.
This established his name and likeness with the beverage. Arizona Beverage Company has bottled and canned the popular version since 2002.
In addition to canned water and Dead Billionaire, Liquid Death also offers sparkling water
The name changes allow them to continue growing their portfolio of novelty canned drinks without risk of an expensive legal battle over trademark infringement.
Fans of the Armless Palmer can take solace in the new Dead Billionaire being essentially the same beverage under a different name.
