The entertainment marketing industry is evolving rapidly.
One of its leading membership organizations, Promax, is undergoing a major rebranding and expansion to reflect these changes.
After almost 70 years serving the TV and music industries, Promax is transforming into the Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences (GEMMA).
This transformation aims to position the group as a globally inclusive leader during a dynamic time for the creative sector.
This significant organizational evolution encompasses various changes, including a transition to a tiered academy membership model, expansion into the Film, Music, Sports, and Gaming industries, a fresh visual identity, and a new name.
As part of this rebrand, the renowned Promax Awards for entertainment marketing will be renamed the Global Entertainment Marketing Awards.
In the upcoming weeks, new award categories will be unveiled, reflecting the evolving landscape of the industry.

The rebranding process also involves the creation of a new brandmark, featuring a spotlight-inspired symbol that pays homage to Promax’s recognizable ‘X’ while embodying G.E.M.A’s commitment to fostering imagination and making a lasting impact.
The newly introduced academy model introduces a membership application process based on qualifications, allowing individuals to access distinct tiers tailored to their career level and role.
These membership tiers include Emerging, Experienced, Established, Affiliate, Student, Educator, Corporate, and an invitation-only Luminary membership.
Prospective members will be required to meet professional qualifications when applying. Existing Promax members will seamlessly transition into the appropriate membership tiers based on their qualifications.
Stacy La Cotera, President of G.E.M.A, expressed the organization’s dynamic nature and commitment to progress, stating, “Our industry isn’t static, and neither are we.” With nearly 70 years of experience, G.E.M.A recognizes the need to embrace change and cultivate a diverse community of marketers, creators, innovators, and visionaries.
The academy aims to empower marketers worldwide by providing essential resources, recognition, and a supportive community.
La Cotera emphasized the pivotal role of marketing in the entertainment industry, which serves as a bridge between audiences and the content they love.
Marketers play a crucial part in establishing lasting relationships and strong connections with viewers, listeners, and fans, ultimately fostering loyalty and contributing to the success of content.
G.E.M.A’s mission involves sharing knowledge, championing best practices, and facilitating connections among professionals worldwide, with a particular focus on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workforce across the industries it represents.
