Youtube introduces ‘Dream track’: An AI music tool that mimcs the vocals of artists

Introducing “Dream Track,” YouTube’s latest innovation driven by artificial intelligence, revolutionizing the way users create audio recordings using the voices of renowned musicians.

The collaborative effort involves nine prominent artists, such as John Legend, Demi Lovato, T-Pain, and Sia.

Users receive text-based prompts that allow them to automatically generate short tracks, each up to 30 seconds in length, replicating the selected artist’s voice and style.

Initially available to approximately 100 creators in the U.S., Dream Track is exclusively accessible through YouTube Shorts, the platform’s short-form video feature that competes with TikTok.

This strategic launch reflects YouTube’s ambition to seamlessly integrate AI technology with music creation while also addressing ethical and legal concerns associated with the unauthorized use of artists’ voices in generative AI.

In a recent blog post, YouTube executives emphasized their commitment to entering a new creative era defined by “partnership and responsibility.”

The experiment aims to explore how technology can enhance connections between artists, creators, and their fans.

To showcase the evolving landscape of AI-generated content, YouTube shared samples of music created through AI collaboration with Google DeepMind.

Renowned artists, including John Legend and Demi Lovato, expressed their support for the platform, highlighting the opportunity for creators to actively shape the future of AI-driven music.

This move comes as a response to the unauthorized surge of AI-generated music on YouTube, raising concerns from artists and labels about potential plagiarism and copyright infringement.

Dream Track is now part of Google’s suite of AI-related experiments, underscoring the company’s proactive approach to emerging AI technology.

In the preceding month, Google unveiled “Dream Screen,” a feature allowing users to effortlessly add AI-generated backgrounds or short videos to their content through simple prompts.

YouTube’s venture into AI-driven music creation aligns with its broader efforts to stay at the forefront of the dynamic landscape of artificial intelligence.
