Pedros Chicken South Africa is taking the competitive South African fast food market by storm once again with their cleverest advert yet.
Debuting this week, the new spy-themed commercial opens with a spy disguised as a “Quality Inspector” from the fictional “Greasy Fried Chicken” (GFC – an obvious dig at KFC) entering a high-level meeting.
He joins executives from GFC and another fictional company “Overpriced Chicken” (a dig at Nando’s famed higher prices).
The meeting’s agenda is discussing the worrying trend of customers flocking to new Pedros Chicken stores over their establishments. “It’s delicious and affordable!” cries one exasperated executive. “Their chicken is fresh, not frozen like ours” adds another through gritted teeth.
The spy chimes in agreement, “And it’s healthier than fried chicken too!”
Things escalate when the GFC rep circles Pedros’ low prices on a menu poster with a greasy drumstick, calling out their opponents’ overpricing.
“You wouldn’t know chicken if it hit you in the face!” fires back the red-faced executive. In a comedic twist, the drumstick then smacks him right in the kisser.
Food begins flying as an all-out brawl erupts between the rival companies.
In the chaos, the spy slyly opens his briefcase to reveal the prize inside – a stacked Pedros meal just begging to be eaten.
At the sight of the fresh, juicy chicken, the fighting comes to an abrupt halt. The spy’s true intent is revealed as he makes a dash for the door, briefcase in hand. “Sorry, but it’s just too good!”
The ad closes on the undercover agent happily digging into his “usual” at a Pedros storefront, accompanied by the tagline “No Beef. Just Great Chicken!”
With its witty jab at the competition and showcase of Pedros’ quality ingredients and value, the commercial is sure to drum up buzz. It’s a fun new entry into Pedros’ arsenal that creatively drives home why their chicken continues crushing the competition. With ads this clever, it’s no wonder this Southern African chain keeps ruffling feathers industry-wide.
