American rap star DaBaby is set to rock Zimbabwe in September this year during a collaboration concert with African Contemporary music giant Jah Prayzah. The critically acclaimed rapper, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, will be visiting the Southern African nation for the first time at a yet-to-be-revealed venue in the capital Harare.

DaBaby shot into global prominence in 2019 with his hit singles “Suge” and “Bop” which put him on the map as one of the most exciting young rappers in America. The 29-year-old Grammy nominee went on to release two studio albums “Kirk” in 2019 and “Blame it on Baby” in 2020 to further critical and commercial success. He is known for his aggressive style of rap, witty wordplay, and self-assured delivery.
Jah Prayzah, often referred to as the King of Zimbabwean Contemporary Music, will be opening for the American Superstar. The 33-year-old contemporary maestro has built a strong fan base over the past decade with his unique fusion of indigenous sounds mixed with urban beats, soothing melodies and powerful yet poetic lyrics. Several of his hit songs including “Dzamutsana”, “Kutonga Kwaro”, and “Mudhara Vachauya” have become anthems in Zimbabwe and beyond.
While the concert genres may seem incompatible, fans of both DaBaby and Jah Prayzah believe the show will provide an opportunity for a musical fusion that will surprise and delight audiences. Fans have taken to social media to express excitement over the collaboration.
DaBaby’s planned visit comes at an opportune time as Zimbabwe seeks to revive its battered tourism sector in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The concert, if successfully pulled off, could put the country in the spotlight and position it as an emerging music tourism destination on the continent.
